Hapag-Lloyd suspends cargo acceptance from South China during Spring Festival

A few days ago, Hapag-Lloyd's official website also issued an announcement stating that the feeder operator in South China announced the suspension of feeder services from late December 2022 to the end of January 2023. This is a preventive measure because after the 2023 Spring Festival holiday, there are epidemic prevention requirements for crew members sailing between South China and Hong Kong.
Taking this into account, Hapag-Lloyd said it would suspend receiving cargo with final destinations in the Pearl River Delta and Fuzhou until further notice. However, it will continue to undertake trunk freight services to major ports such as Hong Kong, Yantian or Shekou.
It should be noted thatAny additional overtime costs imposed by feeder operators during this period will be borne by cargo owners.During the feeder operator’s suspension period, any additional costs and liabilities related to demurrage, terminal storage charges or terminal fees incurred at the transshipment port (Hong Kong, Shekou, Yantian, Dachan Bay) after the container is unloaded will be borne by the cargo owner.
In addition, the booking suspension period to South China is determined based on the estimated time of arrival (ETA) at major ports such as Hong Kong, Yantian, Shekou, and Dachan Bay; it applies to container cargo of all types and sizes, including special cargo (DG/RF/OOG).
The following is a list of affected ports in South China and the start and end dates of suspension of bookings:
