BILL OF LADING

A bill of lading is a document used to prove the contract of maritime transportation and the taking over or loading of goods by the carrier, as well as the document by which the carrier guarantees delivery at the port of destination.

SHIPPED OR BOARD B/L

Refers to the bill of lading issued by the carrier to the shipper indicating that the goods have been loaded on board.

Received for Shipping B/L

A bill of lading is a bill of lading issued by the carrier when the goods have been received but not yet loaded on board.

DIRECT B/L

It refers to the bill of lading issued when the goods are loaded at the loading port and then directly unloaded at the unloading port without changing ships.

Through B/L

Refers to the bill of lading issued by the carrier at the loading port to enable transshipment to the destination port.

Multimodal transport bill of lading (MT B/L)

Refers to a bill of lading that is signed for the entire transportation of goods by two or more modes of transportation such as sea, inland waterway, railway, road, and air.

LINER B/L

A liner is a ship that continuously carries out cargo transportation between specified ports on a certain route according to a published schedule. Liners can be divided into two types: fixed-route regular and irregular.

 CHARTER PARTY B/L

Generally refers to the bill of lading signed by the shipowner to the charterer when the charterer is used to transport all the charterer's goods, or the bill of lading issued by the shipowner or charterer when not all the charterer's goods are transported.

STRAIGHT B/L

A bill of lading in which only the consignee named on the bill of lading can pick up the goods is generally not negotiable.

ORDER B/L

There are usually unnamed instructions (just write ORDER) and named instructions (ORDER OF SHIPPER or ORDER OF CONSIGNEE**COMPANY; ORDER OF **BANK). This type of bill of lading can be transferred after being endorsed by the person giving the instructions.

Bearer bill of lading (BLANK B/L or OPEN B/L)

There is no consignee or ORDER in the bill of lading, which means that any holder of the bill of lading has the right to take delivery of the goods.

Clean B/L

When the goods are delivered, they appear to be in good condition, and the carrier does not make any remarks regarding damage to the goods, poor packaging or other remarks that may hinder the collection of exchange when issuing the bill of lading.

FOUL B/L

When the goods are delivered, if their packaging and surface condition appear to be not solid and intact, the shipowner may make a note, which is a unclean bill of lading.

Parcel receipt (PARCLE RECEIPT or NON-NEGOTIABLE RECEIPT)

Suitable for small quantities of goods, luggage or samples, etc.

Minimum Freight Bill of Lading (MINMUM B/L)

The freight does not reach the minimum amount specified in the freight rate, but is charged according to the specified minimum freight.

Combined bill of lading (OMNIBUS B/L or COMBINED B/L)

When different batches of goods are combined on one bill of lading, or different batches of the same liquid cargo are loaded in one oil tank and several bills of lading are issued, the former is called a combined bill of lading and the latter is called a assembled bill of lading.

SAPARATE B/L

A batch of goods, that is, goods under the same bill of lading, can be divided into two or more sets of bills of lading according to the shipper's requirements.

STALE B/L

The date when the exporter submits documents to the bank for payment is too far away from the date of shipment, so that the bill of lading cannot be delivered to the consignee at the destination port before the ship arrives at the destination. Banks generally do not accept such bills of lading.

SWITCH B/L

After the bill of lading is issued at the port of departure, another set of bills of lading is issued at the intermediate port as the cargo from the intermediate or transit station.

Anti-Dated B/L

A bill of lading issued by the carrier at the request of the shipper after the goods are loaded on board, with a date earlier than the actual date of completion of loading.

ADVANCED B/L

The shipper issues a letter of guarantee to request the carrier to borrow the bill of lading in advance because the goods are already in the hands of the carrier or have already started to be loaded due to the expiration of the shipment period and the settlement period specified in the letter of credit.

ON DECK B/L

Refers to a bill of lading that indicates that the goods are loaded on the open deck of the ship and the words "on deck" are marked on it.

House B/L

A bill of lading issued by a freight forwarder. Freight bills of lading are often issued when goods are shipped from inland to inland. This type of bill of lading lacks the effect of a bill of lading in a technical and strict legal sense.

INTERNATIONAL MULTIMODAL TRANSPORT

According to the entrustment of the cargo shipper, the multimodal transport operator transports the cargo from the place where the cargo is taken over in one country to the designated place for delivery in another country by at least two different modes of transport, one of which is sea transport. This mode of transport is called international multimodal transport. Its main forms are: sea-land/sea-air/sea-rail, etc.

INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS

It refers to the logistics activities between countries or regions in the world, in which commodity entities flow from one country or region to another due to international trade activities.
