Following strikes in June, July and August, the British Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers Union (RMT) confirmed on Thursday that 40,000 employees from Network Rail and 15 train operating companies will go on strike on October 8. Previously, the RMT had planned to strike on October 1 as well.
In addition, the Aslef union said it would strike from October 1 to October 5, and the Transport Salaried Staff Association (TSSA) would strike on October 1.
RMT said,The strike action on October 1 will coincide with separate strikes by other rail staff and bus workers., is expected to cause serious damage to the UK's rail network, bringing Britain's railways to a "virtual standstill".
In August, the UK's inflation rate reached 9.9%, down from 10.1% in July, but still at a historical high. The railway strike will not only affect passenger travel, but will also cause certain obstacles to freight transportation, further exacerbating inflation risks.
Although the British government and new Transport Minister Anne-Marie Trevelyan have held meetings with the RMT union, the dispute seems to show no sign of being resolved. Lynch said the talks had failed because the union had not received a new proposal.Union members had no choice but to continue the strike.

The rail dispute in the UK will lead to strike action at 15 railway companies: Network Rail, Chiltern Railways, Cross Country Trains, Greater Anglia, LNER, East Midlands Railway, c2c, Great Western Railway, Northern Trains, South Eastern, South Western, RailwayTranspennine Express, Avanti West Coast, West Midlands Trains and GTR.(including Gatwick Express)。

Unite the Union has confirmed that more than 560 dock workers at the Port of Liverpool, the UK's second largest container terminal, have been laid off.The strike began on September 19 and ended on October 3.The Felisto Port Dock Workers Union also confirmed that the port's dock workers will start an eight-day strike on September 27. In view of this, the shipping company issued a notice of schedule adjustment.

We would like to remind shippers and freight forwarders who are shipping to the UK in the near future to maintain communication with shipping companies and pay close attention to the delays and impacts of the strike on cargo transportation to avoid unnecessary losses.
